Start-X RF Range Extension Kit: Programming Tutorial

This RF Kit programming tutorial is for the Start-X module shown in the following picture.

For the DS3 and DS4 Start-X modules, refer to this article.

Applicable Start-X RF Range Extension Kits: SXF1B1W, SXF4B2W

Programming Procedure

Step 1: Connect the RF Antenna

1. Locate the supplied RF antenna and extension cable.
2. Connect it to the blue port on the remote start T-harness. The connector is typically identified with an RF label.

Step 2: Enter Programming Mode

1. Disconnect all the connectors from the remote start module. Remove the black connector last.

Step 3: Reconnect the Black Connector

1. Press and hold the programming button on the module.
2. While holding the button, reconnect only the black connector.

Step 4: Wait for LED Confirmation

1. Continue holding the programming button.
2. When the Blue and Red LEDs illuminate momentarily, release the programming button.
3. Reconnect any remaining disconnected connectors.

Step 5: Cycle the Ignition

1. Press and hold the programming button until the LEDs turn off, then release.
2. Turn the ignition ON:
   • Use the key, or
   • Press the push-to-start button twice without pressing the brake pedal.
3. Do not start the vehicle.
4. All module LEDs should illuminate.

Pairing a Remote

1-Way Remote

1. Press and hold the button on the new remote.
2. The LED on the remote will rapidly flash Blue and then turn off.
3. When the Blue LED returns solid, release the button.
4. Pairing is complete.

2-Way Remote

1. Press the bottom (+) button.
2. Immediately press the top Lock button.
3. The top LED will stop flashing.
4. A confirmation chime will sound, indicating successful pairing.
5. Use the third button down to activate the remote start. This button is below the Unlock button.

Additional Remotes

1. Repeat the pairing procedure for each additional remote.
2. When finished, turn the ignition off.
